Riding to promote awareness of CAH · 1 August 2024

CAH Support group provides information on CAH, support to those managing the medical condition and help fund research into improvements in the care and management of the condition.

Story

Until discovering Ben (the landlord of the excellent Brewer's Arms pub in Martinstown, Dorset) has two children living with CAH (congenital adrenal hyperplasia) I am embarrassed to say I had never heard of the condition. I suspect this may be the same for many of you. Over a couple of chats, I decided I would like to do something to help raise awareness of the condition.

Noah and Quinn are both serious cricket fans, so it seemed appropriate to devise a cricket-related challenge, one worthy of the seriousness of the condition.

The challenge is to cycle around all 18 first-class cricket counties in England and Wales, visiting each home ground as I go. In total, this will mean cycling over 1,100 miles (1,104 to be exact - but who's counting) in the 16 days I have allowed in August.

I am under no illusions that this will be anything other than an extremely difficult and arduous challenge but it is still one I very much look forward to having a crack at because it is for such a good cause.
