Story
Hello, dear friends and supporters,
As I turn 50 this year, I find myself at a unique intersection of my personal and professional life, a juncture where my journey as a cardiologist and my family's history of heart disease converge. It's a moment of reflection, celebration, and remembrance, and I invite you to join me in making it a turning point for those affected by heart conditions.
In my role as a cardiologist, I've dedicated my career to treating patients with valvular heart disease and coronary artery disease, witnessing both the challenges they face and the hope that groundbreaking research can offer. My personal connection to this mission is deeply rooted in my own family. My father, had aortic stenosis and 5 years ago passed away suddenly suffering cardiac arrest. His struggle and his strength continue to inspire me every day.
The British Heart Foundation (BHF) is on a mission to 'fund research, cures, and treatments, so we can beat heartbreak forever.' With your support, we can make strides in understanding, treating, and ultimately conquering heart disease. The BHF's commitment to funding research in valvular heart disease and coronary artery disease aligns with both my professional expertise and my personal experience.
This year, to mark my 50th birthday and the 5th anniversary of my father's passing, I'm embarking on a meaningful journey to climb Kilimanjaro. My goal is to reach not only the summit, standing at an elevation of 5895 meters, but also to raise £5,895 for the British Heart Foundation (BHF). This expedition is more than a personal milestone; it is a dedicated effort to support a cause close to my heart.
I extend a heartfelt invitation for you to be a part of this transformative journey. Your contribution, regardless of the amount, holds the potential to make a significant impact. For example, a donation as modest as £24 can fund two hours of research by an early career scientist, bringing us closer to innovative treatments and potential cures. Your support is deeply appreciated as we climb both the literal and figurative heights in pursuit of a healthier, heartier future.
As I embark on this thrilling journey, I feel fortunate to be accompanied by my esteemed cardiology colleagues and friends who share the same passion: Mehdi Eskandari, Alexandros Papachristidis, and Huda Abu-Own.
I invite you to join us in supporting the BHF, a cause that seamlessly connects my personal narrative with our professional dedication. Together, we can strive towards a future where heartbreak becomes a relic of the past, and where patients receive the care and support they truly deserve.
Let's celebrate life, cherish moments and remember our loved ones together.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
