Story
I'm running my first marathon on 10th November and will be raising funds for two amazing charities - WellChild and Aftermath Support (where I work). Any small amount you can donate will be HUGELY appreciated and I know will make a real difference. Thank you! 😊
WellChild Children's Nurses provide essential care and practical support to children and young people requiring long-term or complex care. They play a crucial role in enabling children to leave hospital and be cared for at home, reducing the practical, emotional and financial impact for families.
WellChild is also committed to funding high quality, innovative projects including WellChild's Helping Hands programme working with volunteers from companies and organisations across the country to tackle essential projects in the homes of children with serious illness. Those volunteers provide the manpower and enthusiasm for projects such as bedroom and garden makeovers.
Aftermath Support works with people in Merseyside, Cheshire, Lancashire & Manchester affected by the devastation of road crashes. We offer practical and emotional support to bereaved families and those suffering injury. We also support witnesses and drivers. My fundraising for Aftermath Support will go towards providing grief counselling sessions, as well as bereavement packs for children including resources to help deal with the grief of losing a family member.
PS because you asked ...(ok i know you didn't!) I'm running the marathon with my sister Debora who is raising funds for her charity (the hospice where she works), and I have the support of WellChild team organisers.
All funds raised here will go directly to these two charities; however much i raise will be split equally between the two charities.
Thank you SO much for your support!!
(I will post updates and photos as I progress through the hard slog of training! And I plan to meet up soon with our local WellChild nurses at Alder Hey Children's Hospital to find out more about their invaluable work.)
