We are moving further, faster to help everyone affected by a brain tumour

Story

In September 2023 our families life changed forever. Our Katy was diagnosed with a stage 4 Astrocytoma brain tumour, she had absolutely no severe symptoms until she was diagnosed. Throughout her journey, my sister went through major brain surgery to try and give her a chance but they could only remove 40%. A few weeks after recovery my brave sister started an intensive course of radiotherapy/chemo which was meant to be for 6 weeks, however after 2 weeks it became clear that it was not working and devastatingly we lost our Katy 8 weeks to the day of her first taking severely unwell.

Katy faced this all with sheer courage, determination and strength and never complained. We are all absolutely heartbroken at what’s happened and my grief is so raw that I need to focus my energy on something meaningful. My fitness levels are not where they used to be at all, especially with a young family to support.

Katy didn’t have a choice in her battle which she faced so bravely, so why should I? This is the least I can do to honour her and keep her memory alive.

Brain tumours are one of the biggest killers for children and the under 40s in the UK. Only approx 2% of cancer research funding goes towards brain tumours and approx 72% of all that are diagnosed have little to no symptoms.

Any donation, big or small will help make a difference.
