Story
Myself and members of our family are running the relay for Moy Park’s Belfast Marathon, Gortin 5k / 5mile and Omagh 5k / Half Marathon in memory of an amazing little boy who was in our lives, Harrison. Harrison sadly passed away on Sunday 3rd March 2024. We are raising money for The Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice who were there to help and guide anytime Gareth and Zoë needed them day or night.
Harrison was born with a severe congenital heart defect and his future was very unknown. After a short stay in hospital, Harrison and his mummy and daddy moved to the Children’s Hospice where the care of the doctors, nurses and staff was invaluable and allowed them to spend time as a family. The hospice not only provided care and support for Harrison, Gareth and Zoe, but to family and friends who came to visit Harrison, who were made to feel so welcome.
The hospice provided Gareth and Zoe with the opportunity to make memories with Harrison while they were there, including taking Harrison to the Zoo and the swimming pool as well as giving them the confidence to bring Harrison home. These are memories that will be cherished forever.
When leaving the Hospice, the doctors and nurses kept in regular contact with Gareth and Zoe, and were always there for support right up until the end.
The facilities in the Hospice is outstanding and a much needed service within Northern Ireland for the families that need it. By taking part in this year's marathon in support of Hospice, we'll be ensuring the hospice can continue to deliver specialist palliative care to local people in your community when they need us most.
Harrison was truly an inspiration to all of us and brought so much happiness into our lives. I believe this is the least we can do for this amazing charity!
