Story
Welcome to my fundraising page for CoppaFeel!
This November, I will set out on a challenging, extraordinary and life-changing trek, all in the name of checking chests! Along with Gi Fletcher and some other famous faces, I will embark on a 5 day trek in the Indian Himalayas, in a bid to raise funds towards CoppaFeel's life-saving mission.
I was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2022, and thankfully after almost a year of chemotherapy followed by surgery, we found out that it was a success and it had all gone! Since then I've had radiotherapy and will be on hormone treatment for the next ten years to help decrease my chances of a reoccurrence.
I’m so thankful that I found my cancer early and my treatment was successful - I want to help raise awareness and money, so other people who find themselves in a similar situation have the best possible outcomes and that's through early detection.
I lost my mum to breast cancer when I was 4 years old. It’s not lost on me that I was the same age as her when I was diagnosed, and my daughter is nearly the same age I was. I’m grateful everyday for charities and campaigns like CoppaFeel, so I’ve always been an advocate for regular checks, and thanks to that I was able to catch it early.
Since my diagnosis so many people I’ve spoken to say they never check themselves, so I’ve made all my friends sign up for the monthly text reminders. I want to continue spreading the word of Coppafeel and raise money to give back.
Trekking in the Himalayas is one of those bucket list experiences, but also a massive physical challenge for me, I'm starting from nothing after literally just recovering from my treatment, and I've got about 9 months to get fit. The tallest "mountain" I've ever climbed is probably Roseberry Topping, and that was a fair few years ago! It's certainly given me something to aim my fitness towards, and that's got to be worth a few quid alone!
Your donations will not only support my fundraising target, but most importantly CoppaFeel! They are on a mission to stamp out the late diagnosis of breast cancer by making sure that young people are regularly checking their boobs, pecs and chests and getting to know their bodies in order to have the confidence to see their GP if something just doesn't feel normal.
Thanks so much for your donation & support. To find out more about CoppaFeel! head to www.coppafeel.org.
