Story
In January 2021 I had a subarachnoid haemorrhage. It was a shock and when I left hospital I had no information and no idea what to expect. I certainly didn’t know how much my life would change. I was super lucky and my recovery has been relatively straightforward but I still see and feel the impact of my haemorrhage everyday. Sometimes this is tiredness, other days skills that have changed. I used to pride myself on my attention to detail and I now struggle with this. Obviously tiredness while trying to train for a marathon can be pretty challenging! So please give what you can 😁
It was this life changing event that inspired me to run a marathon before my 40th birthday! So here I go.
I found SameYou late into my recovery but I felt I’d found a place where I was understood and a place where there were helpful resources and sign posts. It’s growing from strength to strength and any little you can donate will be used to support more people with acquired brain injuries.
1 in 3 people will have an Acquired Brain Injury at some point in their lives - we want to help give people the best possible chance of recovery.
SameYou works to increase access to recovery for young adults after leaving hospital and to facilitate innovations in specialist nurse training, fund clinical research and develop evidence for policy change.
Our long-term vision is to work with neurorehabilitation leaders to develop a blueprint for a new type of neuro-recovery centre helping people find their way to recovery.
