Story
I have decided to take part in my first ever Triathlon - A sprint triathlon on Saturday 23rd September at Hever Castle, Kent.
This will consist of a 450m Open Water Swim, 25km Bike Ride and a 4km Run. I have done plenty of cycling but I am definitely a novice when it comes to open water swimming and running - to complete it will be a success to me!
As many of you know Pete and I have a son Daniel who was born with a rare brain condition - Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum. the only way to describe it, is the central hemisphere in the brain that sends messages from left to right did not develop during pregnancy. For Daniel this means that he has global development delay and currently is unable to walk and talk, but he has progress and one thing he does very well is melt the hearts of everyone he meets.
As a rare condition it is difficult to find out information about ACC and the impact it may have on a child or an adult as it manifests itself in many different ways. We found Corpal UK a charity that's mission statement is:
To offer meaningful support to families affected by Disorders of the Corpus Callosum or Aicardi Syndrome.
To inform Healthcare Professionals and raise awareness.
To sponsor Students with learning programmes and enable specific educational resources to be shared in the Education sector.
To bring families together to share their experiences to assist with their understanding and acceptance.
As a very small charity we need to raise money to continue giving support to families like ours and supporting research and education for everyone that may come into contact with children like Daniel
If you can donate just £5 it will go a long way to helping us maintain the fundraising to keep our small charity going.
