Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my page. I’m incredibly proud and excited to be a crew member on the 'Big Blue Clipper Boat', raising money to support UNICEF’s vital work for children!
Every single child deserves nutritious food, clean water, safe shelter, health care, education, and buckets of love.
UNICEF ensures more of the world’s children are vaccinated, educated and protected than any other organisation. In 190 countries and territories, UNICEF works to save children’s lives, to defend their rights, and to help them fulfil their potential, from early childhood through adolescence.
I have supported Unicef for years and when I saw a link with the Clipper Ocean Race, of course I was intrigued! So here I am several years later, after much planning, able to join the Race as a crew member on Legs 7 and 8. I am incredibly grateful to my Partners at Lancaster Medical Practice for agreeing that I can take a Sabbatical to join the Race, and for their enthusiasm, interest and support for my adventure. And of course I could not do this without the love and support of my two amazing daughters and my very patient husband who will be holding the fort at home while I am away. I'm also thankful and delighted by the kindness of family and friends cheering me on.
My initial fundraising target is £500, but as Leg 7 is 7200 nautical miles, and Leg 8, the Atlantic crossing, is 4400 nm, adding up to a total of 11600 nm, I'd really love to raise £1160 - £1 for every 10nm sailed! Wouldn't that be awesome?!
Every donation will help to build a better word for every child.
