Rachael's Cycle Challenge for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity

Thailand Cycle Challenge · 8 November 2024
Our granddaughter had to undergo open heart surgery in 2019, she was just 4 years old. The hospital and all who supported Immy to have the surgery and recovery so quickly as she did, helped all of her family to cope with the trauma of having major surgery at sucha young age. She started school 6 weeks later and for the next 4 years has lead an active and full life. Sadly we learnt earlier this year that Immy will have to undergo firther open heart surgery.
We alway try to raise funds fo this amazing hospital and the team in the Cardilogy Surgery unit. This is to help them provide all the services that Immy recieved along with supporting parents who are worried and anxious and need somewhere to sleep near to thier precious child.
She is such a brave little girl. She is very active, always doing something continually laughing and saying the funniest things. The photos I have attached show Immy doing all the things she loves. She calls the BCH "my hospital" and is hoping to have the same play nurse as she had on her last stay there. She knows that the first days after surgery are difficult but also she knows that she needs the surgery and has accpeted this in her own way.
If I could I would have the surgery for her, as in deed any of her wonderful family would but we cannot. To help me feel positive I can at least raise some needed funds. As I have completed 6 other oversea cycle challenges I have signed up to one in Thailand. Starting on 8th November 2024. We will cycle a distance of 250 miles in 5 days. The challenge is definatley the climate, average temperatures are 35 degrees and very humid.
