Story

On 14 September colleagues from G&H Group, plus their families and friends, will lace up their walking boots and take on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to raise funds for the Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Appeal.

Inspired by Rob and colleagues personally affected by MND, the team of 20 plus (amateur) walkers are keen to help Leeds Hospitals Charity achieve its £6.8 million target. Construction of the specialist MND Care Centre at Seacroft Hospital in Leeds, which will give people living with the disease the best quality of life, is underway but the charity is still circa £600,0000 away from its target.

MND is an uncommon condition that affects the brain and nerves. Symptoms including muscle weakness, twitches, and slurred speech get worse over time, eventually leading to death.

There's no cure for MND, but there are treatments to help reduce the impact it has on a person's daily life. Some people live with the condition for many years.

Rob was an inspiration. Despite facing his own challenges, he was devoted to raising awareness and funds to help people living with MND and their loved ones, until the end. Rob’s dream was to have a specialist centre for people living with MND and their families, giving them the best possible care and support.

We would appreciate any donations to help us achieve our £2000 target and in turn support the creation of a bespoke centre that delivers excellent patient-centred care, in a supportive, purpose-built environment suitable for the needs of the 21st century.
