Story
This weekend will be my second year taking part in the 24 Hour Swim Relay hosted by Level Water at Shepperton Lake. Level Water is an incredibly charity who help bring the power of swimming to children with disabilities, by helping children develop strength, coordination and confidence in the water. With the water taking the weight for these children, it allows an environment where they can build strength and confidence which translated for them outside of the pool. Level Water have helped hundreds of children discover their love of the water, and provide confidence to those who have benefitted from their service.
And now for the nitty gritty:
The swim relay will begin at 12PM (Saturday the 8th of June), with each swimmer taking part with an average of 3 hours swimming throughout the 24 period (some 2 hours, others 4, but most 3), with one of us always being in the water across the 24 hours. As part of this event, myself and my Tri club (The Viceroys) will be aiming to raise a collective £6000 for Level Water, with my own personal target of £800. For myself, I will be swimming at 7PM, 3AM (having to claw my way back into my wetsuit for a night swim) and then again at 9AM. I am also on standby to fill in any slots if anyone is unable to swim across our three Viceroys teams.
If anyone at Braze is able to donate to this wonderful cause, it would mean so much to myself, and those benefitting from this lovely charity. Here is the link to my JustGiving page for anyone that would like to donate. I’l drop in some photos of the event on this thread next week if anyone wants to see how this event is hosted at Shepperton Lake
Lastly, as it’s my birthday tomorrow (quick plug), I will be asking my friends and family to donate on my behalf, raising money for Level Water rather than purchasing gifts. Hopefully we can break past our £6k club goal by the end of the weekend.
For anyone able to donates, thanks in advance!
