Pass The Hope - From Glasgow to Myanmar

Creative Art Campaign based on a traditional burmese toy: Pyit Taing Htaung · 17 April 2025
This Easter weekend, while many celebrate here and around the world we urgently ask you to support 17 million people in Myanmar whose lives have been shattered by the huge earthquake at the end of March. Entire communities have been left without homes — and without hope.
They need our help to recover in the coming days and then try to rebuild lives as they face an uncertain future.
As the Myanmar diaspora and fellow humans, we believe in coming together — through compassion, culture, and community. That’s why we, Myanmar students in Glasgow, are launching a campaign to show solidarity through creativity.
Our symbol is the Pyit Taing Htaung, a traditional children's toy doll known for its ability to always bounce back when knocked over. It’s a symbolic reminder of resilience — and just like the inspirational toy, we believe Myanmar will get back up again.
We ask you to join us: create your own Pyit Taing Htaung (PTH) in any art form — from clay and paper to crochet, eggshells, or digital design. Share it on your social media with your donation and tag us @pth.glasgow on Instagram.
Let’s stand up, create, give, and 'Pass the Hope' (PTH) — from Glasgow to Myanmar.
