Story
The Dawoodi Bohras of Bradford are raising money for the Big Neonatal Appeal by walking 1053 km cumulatively at Lister Park on 1st October 2023.
The Big Neonatal Appeal helps families to be close to their babies while in hospital.
Parents often have to travel long distances each day, sometimes for weeks or months at a time, just to visit their baby in hospital.
Many families stay in hotel rooms or sleep on a chair at their child's bedside. This leads to exhaustion and increasing levels of anxiety and stress. One of the aims of the Big Appeal is to expand the family accommodation so that more parents can be near their babies. We want to make sure parents have comfortable places to stay overnight while they are close to their child. With a place to rest away from the ward, parents are better equipped to support their child.
The Bradford Neonatal Unit provides intensive treatment for pre-term and poorly babies. This is a specialist regional centre, caring for more than 500 of our tiniest patients each year. Your donations will help make this extension become a reality.
The Dawoodi Bohras are a Muslim community who have lived and worked peacefully in and around Bradford since the 1960s. As part of our global Project Rise initiative, we strive to make a positive impact on society and the environment. This fundraising walk is being held in honour of the 80th birthday of the worldwide leader of the Dawoodi Bohras, His Holiness Dr. Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin.
