In 2025, I will take on the challenge of running three ultra-marathons in three months, covering 130 miles—equivalent to 17 Mount Everests laid end-to-end—and climbing 16,890 feet—the height of 21 Empire State Buildings stacked together.

This challenge is in support of Andy’s Man Club, under the banner of my personal philosophy: “PROJECT POSSIBLE.”

How Project Possible Began

In 2015, without realising it, Project Possible was born within me.

Ten years ago, my life—and my family’s life—was turned upside down. The events that unfolded shaped me into the person I am today. Here are the pivotal moments in my Project Possible journey:

(PP1: 2015 – Overcoming a Brain Injury & Hearing loss)

In 2015, I was attacked in a town near my home. I spent 10 days in the hospital with a fractured skull, a brain bleed, and permanent hearing loss in my left ear.

The recovery was gruelling. Fatigue was overwhelming, and my energy levels were at rock bottom. Determined to rebuild, I taught myself the true meaning of Project Possible—pushing through limits I didn’t know I could overcome. I attended every rehab and fatigue clinic session, regaining enough strength to return to full-time work within a year.

Though I never regained my hearing, I adapted. The sensation of having a headphone in my left ear never went away, but I learned to live with it. Today, most people don’t even realize I have hearing loss. That year taught me resilience and determination—the foundation of Project Possible.

(PP2: 2021 – Heartbreak and Rediscovery)

In 2021, I was in a relationship I thought was the happiest I’d ever been. The lead-up to Christmas was magical—hot chocolates, gift exchanges, and time with family. However, Christmas wasn’t as smooth as I’d hoped due to family pressures.

On Boxing Day, I was out and about running some errands. When I returned, my partner had packed her belongings and told me, “I can’t do this anymore.” Thirty minutes later, her parents arrived to take her away, and I never saw her again.

The heartbreak hit me hard. I cried—a lot. Two days later, I went on a walk with my mum, trying to process the sudden loss. That moment marked a turning point. I decided to take up running—a passion I hadn’t pursued since school.

(PP3: 2022 – Running to the Edge)

By 2022, just two years after rekindling my love for running, I had completed a 40-mile ultra-marathon. But life wasn’t without challenges. I was navigating a demanding relationship, sleepless nights, and work stresses. The strain caught up with me: I burned out, became exhausted, and suffered an injury.

While in Edinburgh for my partner’s birthday, I collapsed one morning on the way to the bathroom. I was in pain and confused. We had to cancel our plans, and the 5-hour journey home was unbearable.

For nine months, I battled to find answers, spending nearly £2,000 on physiotherapy, osteopaths, massages, and consultations. Eventually, an MRI revealed a bulging disc in my L4-L5 vertebrae. I was presented with three options: (1) Surgery (2) Steroid injections or (3) Natural recovery

At first, I was ready to choose surgery. But seeing small improvements, I opted for natural recovery instead. The journey was long, but I persevered. Now, as I write this on 23.11.2024, I am training with a running coach, preparing for my next challenge: PP4.

PP4: 2025 – Running for Andy's Man's Club

In 2025, I’ll push my limits further by running three ultra-marathons in three months. Alongside this, I’ll host a mental health awareness speaking event to share my story and introduce Andy’s Man Club to Hereford.

This journey isn’t just about running. It’s about showing what’s possible when you believe in yourself, no matter the obstacles life throws your way.

Life is unpredictable. As much as we plan, prepare, or think we have everything under control, we can’t always anticipate where the journey will take us. Like a perfectly kicked rugby ball soaring through the air, it might look flawless, but when it hits the ground, its bounce can take us in an entirely unexpected direction.

This has been the essence of my journey: adapting, learning, and growing through every unexpected turn. Whether it’s recovering from injury, heartbreak, or life’s challenges, Project Possible is about embracing resilience and showing that, no matter the bounce, you can always find a way forward.

Motto:

“Life’s bounce is uncertain, but our strength to rise makes it possible.”

Thank you for your support and belief in this mission. Together, we can make a difference, one bounce, one step, and one mile at a time.
