Story

Join the Journey – Support Students at Worcester

University of Worcester graduates lead the UK with the best sustained employment outcomes among multi-subject universities. Yet many of our students face economic hardships, balancing intense study programmes and personal responsibilities.

How We Help:

• Community Cupboard: "Give what you can. Take what you need"

• Nutritious Free Breakfasts: Fuelling success

• Earn-As-You-Learn: Hundreds of part-time jobs each year

• Hardship Aid: Tailored support for struggling students

• Scholarships: Rewarding excellence and transforming lives

The Challenge

To highlight these initiatives, I, Professor David Green (Vice Chancellor), am walking 280 km from Porto to Santiago de Compostela this May. My goal? Raise £100,000 for student scholarships and hardship funds.

Generous donors are already doubling contributions! Every pound you give has twice the impact.

How You Can Help

Donate: Sponsor me per km, or give what you can.

5p per km = £14

10p per km = £28

50p per km = £140

£1 per km = £280

Gift Aid: UK taxpayers add 25% more value!

Your support ensures students thrive despite financial challenges. Let’s invest in their futures together.

About the charity

As a university, we are an expression of democracy, progress, knowledge and principle. We believe the fundamental, transformative effect of higher education has benefits for individuals, and for society as a whole. We endeavour to create an institution which encourages students to become good citizens, both within the University community and in the wider world. ‘Inspired for Life’ means that we not only support students and staf to succeed in their chosen career, but also that we motivate them to use the skills that they develop to build a better world. Te University works across the whole life-course, acting as a force for good and seeking impact at every stage. We believe in educating and supporting the whole person, championing intellectual growth and academic achievement whilst recognising that we are much more than the sum of those achievements. We have reimagined the modern university, developing our facilities to be public by design and opening our doors to the community. We have demonstrated the contribution a university can make in strengthening the glue that holds society together, providing cultural resources, raising the aspirations of children and young people and impacting on wider issues related to health, citizenship and community cohesion. In the period ahead and beyond, the University intends to further extend and deepen this commitment to both student and public benefit.
