Story

**UPDATE - NOVEMBER 2024** - RAKESH IS RUNNING THE LONDON MARATHON ON 27 APRIL 2025!

Rakesh and I recently completed the first of our two half marathons (Royal Parks in October 2024) and have the second on 6th April 2025 (London Landmarks).

In a bid to try and raise as much money as possible, and punish himself, Rakesh has now also obtained a place for the full London Marathon on 27th April 2025!

All donations will go towards us both running two half marathons and Rakesh also running the full marathon (definitely value for money!)

We really appreciate all of the donations so far, which are going towards a cause we feel extremely passionate about, and definitely could not do this without your support. Thank you so much

**ORIGINAL POST**

Rakesh and I are running two half marathons, of 21km each, within 6 months (Royal Parks - October 2024 and London Landmarks - April 2025) to raise money for Alzheimer’s Research UK.

Anyone who knows us will know we are not seasoned runners (particularly me!). However, we wanted to challenge ourselves whilst most importantly raising money for a charity that we are both extremely passionate about.

In 2010, Mum was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and this dreadful disease has progressively taken over her whole mind, body and way of life.

We will always remember Mum as the kindest, most loving woman with the biggest heart. Nothing was too much trouble for her and her main goal in life was to make others happy by giving up her time and by making her amazing food. To us she really was superwoman.

Alzheimer’s has slowly robbed our family of an amazing Mum and to watch this has been heartbreaking. Mum moved into a care home shortly after her 70th birthday and is now non-verbal and does not recognise us at all. We all miss her dearly.

We would love to raise as much money as possible to help the charity fund essential research into a cure for dementia and hopefully help to avoid other families having to experience the loss of a loved one to this cruel disease.

Thank you for reading this. We would be grateful for any donation, no matter how small. We are only raising money once therefore any donation given will be for both events.

We will keep you updated on training.

Thank you so much in advance.
