Story
As I'm sure most of you know, my older brother Romin, was born with Down's Syndrome. He is cheeky, creative and the life and soul of any party. Romin enjoys painting, watching films and collecting various items around the house (which may sound strange to some, but is no reason for raised eyebrows in the Patel household). Whilst we've enjoyed watching him learn, develop and enjoy life, not every story with DS is the same.
In April 2024, I will be running the London Marathon for Down's Syndrome Association (DSA). DSA is the only charity in the UK that is there throughout the whole lifespan of somebody who has Down’s syndrome, from before birth, through to old age, and everything in between. Their aim is to enable people who have Down’s syndrome to live full and rewarding lives, and they have been going for more than 50 years.
Their Information Services are the beating heart of the Down’s Syndrome Association. The confidential Helpline receives more than 10,000 calls each year and the team of specialist advisers and Information Officers can offer advice about any aspect of living with Down’s syndrome. We also provide specialist advice through people like our Speech and Language Therapist, Social Care Advisor and Welfare and Benefits Advisor.
I would greatly appreciate any donations towards this incredible charity, however big or small. Further details on the amazing work of DSA can be found at...
