Story
This event was inspired by James who never let his cancer define him. His amazing spirit meant he took part in this event on a number of occasions even though he was undergoing treatment. Macmillan supported him in many ways particularly when he suddenly found himself ill and unable to work. There are many people who suddenly find themselves living with cancer and requiring the services of Macmillan. James worked with his parents and brother in the running this event until his death in 2022. Sadly his brother, Robert, suffers with the same illness and is currently recovering from surgery. We have gained many friends from running these trips and many participants have found the companionship of team members both supportive and inspiring. By each of us supporting the event and raising £500 for Macmillan we can ensure many more of those living with this disease get the help they need to make life comfortable. Most of us will come into contact with cancer at some time in our lives and Macmillan, as many of us know, are there to help and support both the patient and their family. It is our personal experience of the superb care and support provided by Macmillan that has lead us to run this trip.
Our yachts will visit many marinas and most, including Royal Quays, Rhu, Bangor and Whitehills, will donate the mooring fees to Macmillan.
