Story
This is our 5th Light the Lakes, this time leading a walk and wild camp to the lofty Catstye Cam, near Ullswater in the Lake District.
The team have ahead of them a 15.6km round robin, with 2km elevation and a wild camp. Each of us will be carrying our shelter and 24 hours of provisions. We will be lighting our flares/torches in the darkest hours to remember friends and colleagues lost.
Travelling with an open friendly group sharing a love for ’the job’ and those that sacrifice to do it. We’re a mixed bunch, straddling all capabilities.
This hike, and Light the Lakes will support COPS.
COPS provides peer support opportunities and access to counselling services to help surviving family members (‘survivors’) rebuild their shattered lives.
Since its foundation in 2003, COPS has helped hundreds of police families devastated by the loss of a loved one who has died in-service.
