Story
Hi, I'm Laiq, that's me in the picture and I'm 7 years old :)
In 2021, my baby brother was born with a rare trisomy disorder called Pataus' Syndrome. His name was Usayd, which means "little lion" and I got to go and say hello and give him kisses at the hospital. I even read him a story book and sang him a song. He sadly only lived for 34 hours but we are so glad he came to give us cuddles. He really was the cutest little brother anyone could have wished for and I miss him so much.
Mummy and Daddy had some help from a charity called SOFT UK, so I thought it would be fun to have a plant sale outside our house, to raise some money for SOFT, in Usayd's memory. Gardening has helped mummy feel better lots and I love it too.
Let's see how much we can raise! Mummy will add all the plant sale money here, so you can stay updated. If you can't make the sale, we would love for you to donate whatever you can to help us smash our target!
Here's a little bit about the charity:
SOFT UK was started to provide a much-needed support network for children and families affected by Pataus' and Edwards' Syndrome and related disorders. Since its humble origins almost 30 years ago, SOFT UK has grown into a much larger organisation run by families for families.
Ninety percent of the volunteers and staff team have a link with Trisomy within their own families, helping to alleviate the isolation that comes with a Trisomy diagnosis.
