Story
I am taking part in Operation Dreamland walk around Kenya!!
Why is this project important?
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am raising funds for a hospital in Kenya which my dear friends Simon and Jane helped to develop. The hospital is building a new theatre block and need to buy the equipment for it. A group of us are walking in different locations and aiming to walk 3446km between us, which is equivalent to walking around the perimeter of Kenya. I've set myself the challenge of completing 100 of those km. This will be quite challenging for me (and I might need a few extra days to complete it) but, as most of you know, I like a challenge!! I will double any donations given up to £500 and there is match funding for the first £35,000 raised by the whole campaign so your donation could be quadrupled!! Please donate if you can even if it seems like a small amount. Every little helps and once I have sponsors I know I have to get on with the walking!!
Here are some details from the project.
Increased demand for surgery: The number of surgeries performed at Dreamland Hospital has increased dramatically in recent years. DMH simply does not have the space to meet this demand safely.
Limited theatre space: Currently, surgeons have to choose between performing essential surgeries for children and providing safe emergency deliveries for mothers. This is a difficult and unfair choice.
Saving lives: A new operating theatre will allow DMH to perform more life-saving surgeries, including C-sections, complex gynecological procedures, and advanced orthopedic surgery.
