Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This year my Sockathon ran throughout April. Every day I knitted for hours and hours. I still have donated yarn left and it would only be right to carry on knitting socks to use it up and help raise more funds for Dementia UK. During April I managed to knit a sock a day, but now I hope to manage a pair a week, life is busier now! So if you fancy a pair, let me know your size and in return for your donation you will receive a pair of unique socks hand knitted just for you.
In April I managed to raise over £608, enough to fund a newly appointed specialist dementia nurse to complete a 12-week training module, developing their skills to support families facing dementia. Any extra I manage to raise will give much needed help and support to more families living with dementia.
Twenty years ago my Mum had become a victim of Vascular Dementia, once a six foot confident brusk woman few would mess with, she vanished before our eyes over a period of about five years. Dementia in it's many forms takes it's toll not only on the person it affects but also their nearest and dearest. Dementia UK offer the assistance of their Admiral Nurses, specialist dementia nurses who provide life-changing support to families. Many of my friends families are affected by dementia and I hope to be able to continue to raise funds to help.
