We raise funds for mental health to help children and young adults

Story

The Pilgrims’ Challenge 2023

We are a group of twelve 17-18 year old boys from The Royal Grammar School, Guildford (RGS). On the 24th and 25th September we will be walking 61km along the Shipwright’s Way to raise awareness and much needed funds for youth mental health, particularly men’s mental health, and the Max Windle Memorial Trust.

We chose to support this cause as RGS was Max’s school and the MWMT is therefore a cause which is very close to our hearts. There is currently a mental health crisis amongst young people and specifically men; ¾ of all 700,000 lives lost to suicide each year are men.

We probably all know someone who is struggling with their mental health and Challenges like the Pilgrim’s Challenge are a great way to raise awareness of this issue. Hopefully we can help people to see that there is support out there and make it easier for someone who is struggling to speak up and seek help.

The Max Windle Memorial Trust raises awareness and offers support to young people suffering with their mental health, with a focus on depression, anxiety and suicide prevention.
