Story
Phoenix Hub has been open since March 2023. The idea was that we needed a space that could support people who are street homeless within Blackburn with Darwen. Initially it was a space where people could access a warm drink and be able to have a shower, get some clean clothes and wash and dry their belongings but it has grown to so much more than this.
We now offer a range of services that people can engage with such as mental health support, support with domestic violence, substance misuse support, housing support, sexual heath advice and testing, Hep C screening and treatment, food and clothing bank, breakfast club and polish peer support. All of these services are free and the idea is that they can all be accessed under one roof rather than expecting people to make several different trips to several different services which is often difficult when you are homeless.
The Salvation Army is a Christian Church & registered Charity working in 130 countries worldwide and is one of the largest and most diverse providers of social welfare in the world.
