Story
I am thrilled to be participating in the London Marathon 2024 to raise funds for Guy's Cancer Charity.
On 29th December 2017, aged just 40 years old, my world fell apart when I was diagnosed with Stage 2b, multi-foci oestrogen positive Breast Cancer. With no prior family history and living a very healthy lifestyle, I was shocked to say the least.
Under the expert care of surgeons, doctors and oncology specialists at Guys Hospital, I endured 2 major surgical operations, 6 months of chemotherapy and 2 weeks of radiotherapy. During this time I was lucky enough to also benefit from additional support from the Dimbleby Cancer Care, offering complementary therapies such as massage, reiki, acupuncture and councelling to help me recover on the other side of my treatment.
Unable to continue my regular exercise of swimming during this time, due to the risk of infection, I took up running, first by gentle jogging around my local park, progressing to longer runs, before finally completing my first half marathon last year.
Now 6 years on from my battle, I feel ready to take on the challenge of the London Marathon in a bid to raise funds to pay back the incredible team that have enabled me to still be here for my husband, two daughters, family and friends.
The marathon is a grueling challenge, but it pales in comparison to the challenges faced by those battling cancer. That's why I'm asking for your support in helping me reach my fundraising goal of £2500. Every donation, no matter how small, will make a difference in the fight against cancer.
By donating through JustGiving, you can rest assured that your details are safe and secure. JustGiving will never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Your donation will go directly to Guy's Cancer Charity, making it the most efficient way to donate and saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Please join me in this important cause by making a donation today. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those affected by cancer.
