Philippa's fundraiser for The Society For Abandoned Animals

Great Manchester 10K · 18 May 2025 · Start fundraising for this event
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am taking part in the Great Manchester 10km on Sunday 18th May 2025. I have Osteoarthritis in my knees so walking is my exercise of choice. I completed the event last year in 2 hours and 8 seconds so, my goal this year is to complete the course in under 2 hours.
I am a volunteer at The Society For Abandoned Animals. I volunteer every Tuesday afternoon working with the rabbits as part of the team that prepares them for adoption at their forever home.
The Society for Abandoned Animals is a local animal charity based in Manchester. They care for and re-home unwanted cats and rabbits and would never allow a healthy animal to be put down. Before adoption, all the animals are given a full health check, vaccinated, neutered and microchipped
Many of the animals have not had the best start in life and are in need of support from their new families. To ensure they get this, it is their policy to carry out home checks on all potential new homes prior to adoption. In this way they hope to provide the most suitable homes for our animals and give them the best possible chance of finding their new forever families.
The SAA gained charity status in 1967 and is funded with the support of individual donors, corporate partnerships and their own fundraising activities. The Society is staffed by a small team of paid employees and is supported by a great number of committed volunteers, without whom we could not operate. If you would like to get involved with the SAA and their work, why not make a donation, volunteer or foster. Any help you can offer will always be greatly appreciated by all of us here at the SAA and of course by all of the animals in our care!
This is why I am taking part in this event to raise funds for this amazing charity.
Thank you for supporting me.
