Story
St Michael’s Hospice is the most extraordinary place. I first visited when, as a young solicitor in about 1987, I went to see a patient there. This visit made a profound impression on me as I saw a woman, who was relieved not only of physical pain, but also of the mental anguish from which she had been suffering and who was able to find peace and acceptance.Over the years I have had friends who have benefitted from the many services St Michaels offers, both as residents and outpatients and I have known staff and volunteers too, whose dedication and compassion is beyond compare. A particular memory is of a dear friend whose death some four years ago still feels very recent. I will carry her joyous spirit with me as I walk and remember her hearty laugh and radiant smile.St Michaels is fast approaching its 40th anniversary. I walk in celebration of the remarkable achievements of these four decades and in a bid to play a small part towards its success in the many decades to come. It is a most valuable resource in the heart of our community and we must cherish it. Please help do so by giving whatever you can. Part of your donation will go towards the costs of the trip.
