Story

I'm running the Wilmlsow half again this year, and not just for fun. I've decided to raise funds for a great charity that my wife already supports. Here's a little bit more about Bare Necessities:

Hello, thank you for joining us in the Wilmslow Running Festival 2025 and this year we are proud to say that we are the event’s chosen charity partner .

Together we can help run hygiene poverty into the ground.

We are Bare Necessities Toiletry Bank, just like a food bank but only for toiletries and hygiene stuff. We help local people keep clean when they can’t afford the everyday essentials we all take for granted; it’s things like tooth paste, shampoo, deodorant and shower gel. Hygiene poverty is really shaming & humiliating, it makes everyday life an ordeal.

We’re not ok with that, we say we’re here because no-one should have to choose between eating and keeping clean. Together we make a difference …

About the charity

Bare Necessities is a grassroots charity, founded in 2018 after hygiene poverty was headlining, to collect, buy and distribute toiletries in the local community. We encourage people to donate toiletries and hygiene essentials at our donation points and local businesses to host our donation boxes.
