Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In August 2023 I was prompted to visit my GP and get a PSA blood test. My test was slightly high for my age and I was referred for a MRI and then a biopsy. This showed that I had Prostate Cancer. Although it was caught early and it was still contained in the capsule. Based on this I chose to have a Radical Robotic Prostatectomy and Bi Lateral Lymph Node removal. So on the 6 March 2024 I was admitted to Northampton General Hospital where I spent 3 nights.
At my 6 week consultation with the Surgeon who carried out my operation. He confirmed that it was an aggressive cancer, but it was contained and because we had caught it early, it had been removed.
I feel so blessed that I have been one of the lucky ones, as it was found early it was able to be dealt with. The thing to be aware of is, I had no symptoms. Early Prostate Cancer does not present symptoms. If it had been left, the cancer would have broken out the capsule and metastasised around my body. My situation would have been so, so much worse.
I am supporting Prostate Cancer UK in bringing Prostate Awareness to as many men as possible. It is so important that men aged 50+, or 45+ if there is history of Prostate Cancer in the family or if you are black visit their GP and insist on a PSA test. As in my case, if it is caught early, it can be dealt with.
To highlight Prostate Awareness I am riding from the Thunder in the Glens Harley Davidson Rally in Aviemore, Scotland down to The Hwam UK HQ in Herefordshire over 5 days (Setting off on Monday 26 August) calling on as many of my Hwam Retailers as I can to raise money and highlight the incredible importance of getting a PSA test. It may save your life.
