Story
To mark my impending 50th Birthday my friend Steve and I have decided to cycle from Colchester to St Tropez, clocking up 842 miles (1,347 km) in the saddle!
The adventure starts on 12th May 2023. It will take us through 4 Countries, cover 842 miles (1,347 km), climb 25,351 ft (7,727 m) over 12 days.
We will be supported through the trip by my wife, Karen, who will be there to make sure we are fed and watered (breakfast/lunch/dinner), that tents are erected each evening and packed up each morning, and attend to any issues that may arise.
We have chosen Parkinsons UK as it is a charity that is close to our hearts. My late father suffered from the disease in his later years and my mother-in-law was diagnosed in 2015. Parkinson is cruel and debilitating disease which affects mobility and quality of life.
There are over 1 million people suffering from Parkinsons in the UK. Anyone can get Parkinson’s, young or old and every hour, two more people are diagnosed! There are over 40 symptoms, including tremors, pain, leg freezes, stiffness, anxiety. Everyone’s experience is different.
Parkinson’s is the fastest growing neurological condition in the world, and currently there is no cure. Money raised will help to support the 145,000 people who are diagnosed with Parkinson's in the UK each year, together with supporting their families and loved ones.
This is a self-funded adventure and 100% of any donations will go direct to Parkinson's UK. Thank you for your support!
