Ashgate Hospice Skydive · 27 September 2024 ·

We're back again for another year! Join us on Friday 27th September 2024 at Hibaldstow Airfield in Lincolnshire. Where we're inviting you to do the UK's highest skydive, to help raise funds for hospice care in North Derbyshire.

Story

We absolutely smashed our initial target of £1500 and have since raised to £3000. A huge thanks to everyone who has already donated! 🌟

We are raising money in memory of Phil Wardle for Ashgate Hospice, who cared for him during his last few weeks of life. All the staff at Ashgate were exceptionally wonderful to us and made Phil comfortable, pain-free, and peaceful.

We, Trisha, Cameron and Becky, are each doing a skydive on the 27th of September 2024 where we will jump from an aeroplane and freefall 15,000ft.

Each year, Ashgate Hospice provides care to over 2,400 local people who are living with a life-limiting illness. The hospice requires £16.2m a year to run and only £5m of this if funded by the NHS. The remaining £11m must be raised themselves, equating to £30,000 a day, a cost set to rise by 7% next year.

In 2017, Phil was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer and fought a strong battle, undertaking major surgery and chemotherapy. He enjoyed a further 7 years living his life to the full, but unfortunately, the cancer returned earlier this year, bringing his battle to an end on the 17th of August 2024.
