Peter's London Marathon in memory of Will Lithgow and for Rowans Hospice
Fundraising for The Rowans Hospice
Fundraising for The Rowans Hospice
Hi, thank you for taking the time to visit my fundraising page. I have started training with a group of Bedales students for my first marathon which will be the London Marathon at the end of April 2025.
I am running in memory of my good friend Will Lithgow who died of cancer in March 2024. Will and I worked together for five years as part of the team leading the boys' boarding house at Bedales and Will taught music at Bedales for 16 years inspiring students to find a deep love of music.
Will and I also became dads at the same time with parenthood transforming us for the better. Our kids remain really close and I am as much running in support of Lindsey and the kids as I am in memory of their dad Will.
As part of my training I am lucky enough to be running once a week with some of the students I teach and look after at Bedales. We are loving our weekly early morning runs, rallying each other through the early starts and wet conditions, then rewarding ourselves with breakfast back in the dining hall, feeling fabulous after our early morning run! We are hoping to grow our number of runners each week with staff and students joining our cause.
Rowans Hospice were amazing in the way they supported Will at the end of his life and I am delighted to be running the marathon to raise money for them. As a local Hospice they were able to find a space for Will in his final days and thanks to their amazing set-up Will's kids were able to visit their dad and spend enjoyable, quality time with Will in a way they could not have done at home. The team had Will's care all in hand and were wonderful with the children. They also provide days out for young families in the years after the bereavement and this is where I would like the money I raise to go - bringing together young families who have experienced loss for enjoyable days out in the years after their bereavement.
Thank you for taking the time to read about my friend Will and the reason I am running the London Marathon for Rowans Hospice. Your sponsorship will help push me and the students through the hard yards of training through to April!
Thank you.
Peter
