Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

That’s right, I am going to cycle (virtually) 2,000km from my home to our proposed Desert Springs training camp in the Almeria region of Andalucía, south-east Spain, by committing to cycle 50km on my exercise bike on 40 consecutive days, starting today (Tuesday 7 February)!

I am doing this challenge to not only help raise money for the London Schools’ Cricket Association Academy boys to attend a mid-season training camp, but also for the 200 talented boys (aged 10 to 19) that attend weekly training sessions, from all walks of life, so that they can continue providing the professional cricket coaching and summer fixture programmes, these boys deserve and that otherwise would not be available to them.

Despite London Schools’ Cricket Association being the only organisation running school cricket competitions in London, training 200 selective boys and providing over 100 County fixtures across the age groups, we receive no central funding from the ECB or any other organisation. We survive on the generosity of parents and doners alone.

I am therefore donning my lycra and cycle shoes to ride an exercise bike 2,000km! For me, to commit to ride an exercise bike for 50km on 40 consecutive days is no small task but I am very excited, although a little apprehensive, to be doing this to help the children of London Schools’ Cricket Association experience opportunities that otherwise may not be available to them. For the past few years I have had the privilege to help nurture the talent, dedication and courage of these boys and I hope that you will help me help them achieve their dream of becoming professional cricketers.
