Story
Dear Friends,
I am writing to you today to honour the memory of my lifelong friend Chris, who sadly passed away from glioblastoma, a type of brain cancer, in 2021.Glioblastoma is an especially vicious, voracious, vindictive brain cancer that has an average life expectancy, after diagnosis, of 15 months.
Chris was a remarkable person, full of kindness, humour, and a compassion that inspired everyone who knew him. His loss has left a huge hole in our lives, and especially in mine but his spirit lives on in the memories we shared together. I also lost my wonderful cousin, Paddy to a brain tumour in 2019.
I have decided to undertake a 520 kilometre cycle ride between Vietnam and Cambodia in October this year to raise funds for brain cancer research and support services in honour of Chris. This disease is devastating and impacts so many families, and I want to do my part to help those who are affected by it.
All donations will go to The Brain Tumour Charity, a reputable brain cancer charity that funds research into the disease and provides support for those living with it. Your donation will make a real difference to people's lives and will help us to honour Chris's memory in a meaningful way.
Please consider donating to this important cause and sharing this campaign with your friends and family. Together, we can make a difference in the fight against brain cancer.
Thank you for your generosity and support.
Yours sincerely,
Peter van der Sloot
Anxious cyclist.
