Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In June 2024 my daughter Joanna went through a percutaneous pulmonary valve replacement and we were blown away by the care and support given by the staff in this hospital.
Research has allowed this procedure to be performed by keyhole and not open heart surgery which she went through in 2008. This is an incredible advancement and this hospital is a specialist unit for all those who have Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) Joanna wants to thank the fabulous team at QEHB and to raise more awareness about ACHD.
ACHD has become an increasingly important field as more children with cardiac heart disease survive into adulthood due to advances in pediatric cardiac care. These patients require ongoing medical attention and sometimes surgical interventions throughout their lives.
Joanna previously raised £2245 for Birmingham Children’s hospital where she was treated from birth. So now it’s time to raise some money for the next stage of her medical journey.
The family are joining Joanna in London on October 26th to complete a 10k Halloween Walk to raise money for this amazing hospital and so they continue to carry on research into this area
