Alison’s Story
Alison’s journey began in August 2022. Our world was turned upside down and only due to Alisons grit and determination, were we able to maintain some sort of normality through the coming months.
In September of 2022 Alison underwent major surgery followed by two courses of intensive chemotherapy, supported by the amazing staff and Oncologists at Belfast City Hospital Cancer Centre. For the next two years Alison enjoyed life and made the most of everyday!
In October of 2024 Alison became very ill and subsequently was readmitted to the Belfast City Hospital Cancer Centre. On Friday the 8th of November, our world was shattered and we were given the worst possible news. Alison’s cancer had returned with vengeance and she was transferred to Belfast Marie Curie Hospice.
From the moment she entered the Hospice, she as well as all her family knew that she was in a very special place. Words cannot describe the person centred care and effort given by all the staff and how amazing and special they not only made Alison feel but all her friends and family. The care she received was outstanding and they went above and beyond in every way.
Growing up Alison always had a special connection with animals and in particular horses. During her time at the Hospice, the staff facilitated for Alison to say Goodbye to Flurry. She got to see him for one last time and this was a truly memorable and special moment for her and all involved.
On the 26/11/24 at 07:15am Alison’s long hard battle had come to an end and she gained her Angel wings and has now been welcomed home and is safe in the arms of Jesus.
Unfortunately know one knows when this cruel disease will come knocking and given what we as a family have experienced with the love and utmost care at Marie Curie Belfast, we feel we need to raise as much as we can to be able to help fund others who will need their outstanding care. On average the daily cost to run Marie Curie Belfast is £6150.00 and this money helps them to operate their remarkable and special home from home.
We would like to thank everyone in memory of Alison for your donation, small and large, as every penny counts. We miss her greatly and we take comfort knowing her last days were so special.
