Story
I have been a keen sailor for many years and am qualified as a RYA Yachtmaster Offshore. Most of my sailing to date has been coastal sailing, although I have also crossed the Bay of Biscay. However, I have never done an ocean crossing, but have read lots about yachts crossing the Atlantic and the traditions around equator crossings.
I have known about the Clipper Race for many years and went on board the Qingdao Clipper 70 yacht in 2017 in Cape Town. I vowed that the next time I came back to Cape Town would be on a Clipper yacht. When I took redundancy in 2021 I saw this as an opportunity to sail from the UK to Cape Town on board a Clipper 70.
So now I am fulfilling a promise to myself to return to Cape Town and taking on the adventure of crossing an ocean. I am doing this as part of team Our Isles and Oceans with skipper Max Rivers.
Unicef are the official charity partner for the Clipper Race and each team has been challenged to raise £33,000.00 for Unicef.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my page. I’m proud to be raising money to support UNICEF’s vital work for children.
UNICEF ensures more of the world’s children are vaccinated, educated and protected than any other organisation. In 190 countries and territories, UNICEF works to save children’s lives, to defend their rights, and to help them fulfil their potential, from early childhood through adolescence.
Every donation will help to build a better word for every child.
