Story
Embarking on a mission close to my heart, I'm lacing up my running shoes for a cause that truly matters – supporting the Silver Star Unit at the hospital where I work. The Silver Star Unit supports all the Maternity Services at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
This Maternity unit becomes a lifeline for pregnant mothers and birthing people, facing serious and rare complications – from repeated miscarriages to pre-eclampsia and various placental issues. It extends its embrace to women dealing with high blood pressure, diabetes, kidney or heart problems, and other medical complexities. The dedicated team, comprised of passionate Midwives and Nurses and supported by the entire Maternity Unit and Special and Intensive Care baby nurseries, works tirelessly to provide unique and comprehensive care.
Now, why am I sharing this with you? Well, here's a glimpse of my personal journey. The photo captures a victorious moment with my son Josh after completing my first Ultra 50K back in June 2022. And now, I'm aiming higher – targeting a challenging 100K run on the historic Ridgeway, stretching from Lewknor to the mystical Avebury Stone Circle, the oldest trail in the UK.
Over the next six months, I'll be pouring in the effort, shedding a few winter pounds to regain my race weight and rediscover my speed. I like to think of Ultras as running picnics – challenging yet rewarding adventures.
Now, here's where you come in. I'd be truly honoured if you could join me in this incredible journey by sponsoring me for this great cause. Together, let's make a difference for the Silver Star Unit, ensuring that every mother and baby receive the specialised care they deserve. Follow my journey, support the cause, and let's run towards a brighter future for these mothers and their precious little ones... And Breathe
