Story

On the 22nd June 2024, Dr Peter Sharpe and Dr Eamon McCarron will be undertaking the Mourne Wall Challenge in memory of Peter’s dad Robert (Bob) Sharpe (Jan 31st 2024) and in support of Alzheimer’s Research UK. Please donate generously to support the work of this amazing charity.

The Mourne Wall Challenge:

The challenge consists of hiking along 21 miles of Mourne wall as it traverses 14 mountain summits with a total ascent of almost 10,000 ft. The aim is to complete it within 13 hours.

The Mourne Wall was built by the Belfast City and District Water Commissioners in 1904 and was completed 18 years later in 1922, and it marks and protects the water ‘catchment area’. It was built as a result of a typhoid outbreak in 1898 which swept through the city of Belfast.

Alzheimer’s Research UK:

Alzheimer’s Research UK is the UK’s leading dementia research charity. The charity is working to revolutionise the way dementia is treated, diagnosed and prevented. And with the help of their supporters, the charity will keep going until every person is free from the heartbreak of dementia. Alzheimer's Research UK exists for a cure.
