Story
My dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and Dementia 3 years ago and recently moved to Brighton. It’s been an up hill struggle for us all and sadly will only get more steep as time goes by. However we have found a little life line in the heart of Hove and Brighton called Hop 50+ cafe. Which is an incredible social hub and outreach for people like my dad who if left alone for long periods can quickly become very lonely isolated and vulnerable. The staff team take time to ensure there is always a warm greeting, and a positive friendly environment for both new and existing customers. With its open kitchen, our café provides freshly cooked excellent food and great coffee without high street prices. We are open to anyone aged 50+ and their carers.
The Hop 50+ is open Monday Saturday, with Friday being a dedicated day for people living with the early stages of dementia. The café is open between 9.30am and 4pm. Where they organise music events, art classes, yoga and fitness training for the elderly and cognitive therapy and games to help keep the brain stimulated. They also organise fun outings, out of town trips and provide a social life for a whole community of vulnerable people. Please donate anything you can to this incredible charity and every penny will help drive my legs right up to the Ben Nevis Summit! And that somehow makes the thought of the uphill climb not feel so overwhelming. Just like the Hop cafe does for me and my dad 🏔️😚🙏🏻
