Story
Join us in solidarity with the 1 in 5 families in Nottingham suffering from food poverty by fasting for the day on the 24th of March - and perhaps throw in a few quid in support too?
Himmah is a founding member of Nottingham Citizens and following the Islamic principles of justice and equality, has been working with us to tackle inequalities in the city for over 10 years. By supporting, you will be standing shoulder to shoulder with those fighting to support Nottingham's most vulnerable people.
In the last 6 months Himmah's Food bank has provided 8,196 food parcels supporting 4,534 Adults & 3,662 Children, equating to 75 tonnes of food distributed. Demand is increasing for services...but costs are skyrocketing. Every month Himmah purchases £10,000 worth of food from other charities and wholesalers.
Our Muslim brothers and sisters use the holy month of Ramadan to intentionally fast as part of their spiritual practice of becoming more aware and conscious of God. But, many in our city have no choice but to hunger and go without. I know money is tight for most right now, so any donation, however small, would be hugely appreciated. You will also be very welcome to join supporters on the 24th March, 5pm, for 'Dates in the Square' to break your fast, if you are joining in with the fast.
