Story
On 2nd March, I am joining thousands of others around the world to walk the length of a marathon in solidarity with Palestinians at the same time the annual Palestine Marathon was due to take place.
I have witnessed first hand the expulsion of Palestinian people from their homes in the West Bank and in Jerusalem. I have seen people's houses demolished. I have witnessed the wall and the checkpoints and the restriction of movement and access to land that Palestinians have faced for so many years because of the actions of the state of Israel. This story is not new.
In February 2024, I met a Palestinian woman in Edinburgh who is from Gaza, and who has lost 200 members of her family. 200 members of her family killed. It's hard even to comprehend.
I will be walking the whole 'Wall', just a marathon's length (which is long enough for me!). The whole 'Wall', which refers to the illegal Separation barrier that is 750km long, and cuts deep into the West Bank, prevents whole communities of Palestinian farmers from accessing their land, and restricts their ability to travel even to neighbouring villages.
In Gaza, nowhere is safe. An average of 250 people are being killed every day, and 70% of these are women and children. over 50,000 people have been injured, with all major medical facilities also bombed, and 1.9 million people have been displaced and are still trapped. It is a humanitarian disaster where people are facing starvation and the rapid spread of disease.
Please help Amos Trust raise £60,000 - the £30,000 they need to rebuild a Palestinian home on the West Bank that was destroyed by the Israeli Authorities and £30,000 for emergency relief in Gaza.
