"We are cycling on behalf of the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity because we are the lucky ones - we have all had our brushes with illness and now we want to give something back to help other people."
The Pendennis Team are taking on the Pedal4Patients cycle challenge this year in aid of the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity - cycling 300km over three days across the glorious Cornish coast and countryside. It's not just about the miles covered in the saddle, though. For the team, this year's goal is to support each other all the way through the training regime, through the 300km cycle and on to the finish line - training together and championing each other along the way.
Last year, Pendennis employee Jason took on the challenge after a devastating tonsil cancer diagnosis. He credits the ride with helping his recovery, both physically and mentally - and was key to encouraging the team to take part this year. Each member of the team, including Jason, has their own reason to be completing this challenge - in their words; "It's our own personal adventure, but a great adventure to be doing it all together. We've all had brushes with illness, or been affected in some way. We are the lucky ones - putting something back is going to be massive for us." Their aim is to raise as much money for the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity as possible, starting with a goal of £10,000. Can you help them reach their target?
