From 11th to 14th July, we are cycling 500km over 4 days from Peckham, London to Penzance, Cornwall to raise money for Parkinson's.

- Parkinson’s is the fastest growing neurological disorder in the world.

- There are 153,000 people living with the condition in the UK and 8.5 million globally.

- Two people in the UK are diagnosed every hour.

- 1 in 37 people will be diagnosed during their lifetime.

- There is currently no known cure.

It is a chronic and progressive disorder that primarily affects movement. It occurs when cells in the brain responsible for producing dopamine become impaired or die. Every person has their own combination of symptoms and side-effects and differing speeds of progression.

Cure Parkinson's is a truly amazing research led charity whose goal is finding new treatments to slow, stop or reverse the progression of Parkinson's.

They have identified 43 drugs that show promise as a potential cure and the cost to the charity to complete research of all of them over 5 years is £40m.

The cycle is being organised by brothers Joe & Max Tyndall and their brother-in-law Paddy Davis. Joe & Max's mum Lucy was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 2012. She is incredibly kind, generous and an inspiration in how she approaches her Parkinsons.

The Peckham to Penzance cyclists are friends who have kindly signed up for this challenge. Most of us are by no means seasoned cyclists and the training has quickly made us realise just how hard this will really be... especially once we hit the hills of Dartmoor.
