Story

Lots of little legs and big hearts are undertaking a challenging climb for the children of Gaza.

Ruby, aged 8, and her friends are raising money for the children impacted by the war in Gaza. Ruby was inspired by Suesanne Samara’s Give Peace a Tri but was unable to take part on the day so decided to organise her own fundraiser 'Peaks for Peace'. We’ve talked a lot about what’s happening in Israel/Palestine and Ruby wanted to do something to help the children, particularly Palestinian children who are experiencing unimaginable loss and trauma amidst a huge humanitarian crisis.

Ruby and her friends aged between 6-13 (with some help from the grown-ups) will be climbing Ingleborough, one of the Yorkshire Three Peaks on April 21st for the ‘Save the Children Gaza crisis appeal’. They are undertaking urgent work to help the children in Gaza and you can read more about the work they are doing here.

The kids crew so far includes: Ruby Wilson, Lamees Ekblom, Lotte and Franka Hostert, Cessie and Milly Baldaro-Booth, Izzy Grosvenor, Tobias and Rosie Roberts, Erin and Amelia Davies, Charlotte Woods, Jemima Doyle, Issy Dawson, Ernie Kinsey, Walt and Duke Cowgill, Isla Robinson, Autumn and Athen Doherty, Roo, Izza and Ted Young, Theo and Matilda Falkingham, Edgar, Bea and Hugo Traviss Turner, Phoebe Fairclough and Ayra Chen.

Please sponsor us if you can. Thank you for caring.

I wanted to add where your money is going and show how every donation big and small helps. Some examples of how Save the Children use the money:

£5 can provide a pack of 12 water bottles to people struggling to access potable water.

£10 will allow us to provide a Dignity Kit containing a variety of sizes of sanitary towels and underwear.

£38 will allow us to provide a family with a Baby Kit to give them the items they need to provide basic care to their infant.

£60 will allow us to provide a Hygiene Kit containing jerry cans, aqua tabs for 10 litres of water, a bathing towel, sponge, toothbrushes (children and adult), plastic jug, hair comb, nail clipper, plastic washing basin.

£66 will allow us to provide a family with a food parcel containing canned beans, hummus, canned chicken, canned tuna, olive oil, dried zataar (a spice), sardines, cooked cheese (8 pieces), high energy biscuits, raisins, and halaweh (sweet pastry).

£238 will provide one family with cash (or a cash voucher) to help them buy essentials like food, water and other essentials for one month.
