Story
Nearly 15 years ago in May 2009, Dad was diagnosed with a terminal illness called sporadic CJD, a very rare and fatal disease which causes damage to the brain and nervous system and severely worsens over time. Just 1 or 2 people in a million die from CJD each year and unfortunately we were one of the unlucky ones.
There is no cause and no cure for this horrible illness.
Just 4 months later in September 2009, Dad had passed away.
In April, I will be running the Hamburg Marathon in memory of Dad and will be raising money for the CJD Support Network.
They are the only UK charity registered to the disease and ensure that appropriate practical and emotional support is available for all strains of CJD in the UK.
All donations are hugely appreciated for a cause that means a lot to me and my family.
