Story

In conjunction with Kent College music department and special guests, we are presenting 'Tumouresque - Paul's 60th Birthday Charity Concert' on Friday November 22, 2024, at 7.00 pm as a personal challenge to raise at least £2500 for The Brain Tumour Charity. We believe that together, we can make a difference in the lives of those affected by brain tumours.

Sincere thanks to all my friends, family, colleagues, students and their parents and guardians for their generous contributions to this concert. Particular thanks to Julian Ross and the music department for their active support in a very busy term.

Please join us in supporting this important cause by donating generously towards our fundraising goal.

The Brain Tumour Charity is very close to our hearts. Our beloved son, Samuel has had his life severely disrupted since the age of 4 by three major surgeries and a recent eighteen-month course of chemotherapy for a stubborn progressive benign tumor on the brain stem. We are so proud of how Samuel has faced these challenges, however the journey continues with trying to catch up lost time and with regular scans to check for any growth of the residual tumour. The Kent College community has been incredibly supportive for our journey as a family. KC has its own relationship with the brain tumour cause through several students, staff and families who have suffered terribly from brain cancer, so we felt this was a relevant cause for sharing our music in the Great Hall.

The music will take you on a journey from Mozart to Mars (Bruno) via jazz by Dave Brubeck and stopping off in Africa.

The Brain Tumour Charity is the world's leading brain tumour charity and the largest dedicated funder of research into brain tumours globally. Committed to saving and improving lives, it's moving further, faster to help every single person affected by a brain tumour. The charity is set on finding new treatments, offering the highest level of support, and driving urgent change. And the charity is doing it right now because we understand that when you or someone you love is diagnosed with a brain tumour, a cure really can't wait.

Brain cancer is the biggest cause of death in children and adults under 40 and yet has only 1% of national spending allocated and this is why we are such a big supporter of the work of the Brain Tumour charity.
