Nurses Abseiling

We aim to provide patients with a choice to receive care where it suits them best

Story

We are a dedicated team of 11 nurses working tirelessly at St David's Hospice

Recently, we had the privilege of using a companion/cwtch bed on our ward, which was generously loaned to us. This remarkable bed allows family members to share a comforting space with their loved ones during palliative or end-of-life care. As caregivers, we witnessed firsthand how this bed not only provided comfort but also enhanced the sense of safety for our patients.

The bed is equipped with alarms that alert us if patients attempt to climb out, ensuring their well-being at all times. Our patients expressed how comfortable they felt, and it brought us immense joy to see them at peace during such challenging moments. However, the unfortunate reality is that these beds come with a significant price tag of £15,000. We believe that every patient deserves this level of care and comfort in their final days.

To make this dream a reality, we have decided to take on an exhilarating challenge: we will be abseiling off the Principality Stadium at the end of June! This personal challenge is not just about conquering our fears; it’s about raising funds for St David's Hospice Care so that we can purchase these essential beds for our patients.

We kindly ask for your support in this endeavor. Every contribution brings us one step closer to providing our patients and their families with the comfort they deserve during such critical times. Together, we can make a difference.
