Donating to Guy's Cancer Charity will help many others.
For the second year the Boards Bikes and Boots team will be taking on a 50km triathlon style challenge of paddling, cycling and walking on, beside and around the River Medway in aid of Guy's Cancer Charity.
Cancer will affect the lives of 1 in 2 people during their lifetime so continued investment in research is vital, not only to enhance the lives of patients, but also to ease the strain on the NHS which, as we all know, is already stretched to breaking point.
But have you ever wondered how your money is spent when you make a donation towards a cancer charity?
At BBB'24 we hope to show you just some of the research that is benefitting from your donations and how that research is already helping to improve cancer care.
We also want to demonstrate the importance of exercise and physical activity in a world where time always seems to be in short supply. It has been proven that just 150 minutes of moderate activity each week can reduce the chances of a cancer diagnosis, improve the outcome of cancer treatment and can even lower the risk of other chronic conditions such as heart disease or stroke.
For those that don't want to take part in the challenges there will be plenty to keep you and your families entertained back at "base" with food, drink and entertainment all day. You might even decide to join in with the competitors and get in a few of those valuable exercise minutes as we warm up for the cycling or running in the afternoon.
